Whether you've never knit a sweater before, or have knitted sweaters and been unhappy with the fit, or if you can’t find sweaters for your size, this class is for you! This class is size inclusive, you will learn how to work with a schematic and make a sweater that fits from any pattern. You’ll be able to apply what you learn in this class to any pattern in the future. This class is trans-inclusive, let’s make something you love!

Using Jane Richmond's Ladies or Men’s Classic Raglan Pullover, we will learn:

  • How to take accurate body measurements

  • How to read a pattern schematic and compare to our measurements

  • How to grade between sizes (since many of us are a different size at the bust and hips)

  • How to grade to sizes not included in the original pattern

  • How to add any design element of your choice: cables, stitch patterns, stripes, colorwork, make it a cardigan!

Prior to class, please SWATCH with the yarn you intend to use! You will receive detailed instructions to help.

Pre-requisites: You must be comfortable with basic knitting in the round, purling, increasing, and decreasing. You should have knit a few accessories and be comfortable reading basic patterns.

Materials: One skein of the yarn you intend to use for your sweater, appropriate needles (swatch before class), stitch markers, pencil and paper, tape measure, calculator. The pattern will be provided in class! NOTE: If you’re taking this class online and don’t have yarn, it’s okay! This class focuses on the math for customizing your sweater, so you can create your pattern in class and then get yarn later.
