At Circle of Stitches, we believe in supporting our community through our knitting. Gather up your scrap yarn and join one of our causes!
Charity Knitting Circle
The first Sunday of every month, we will be hosting a charity knitting circle. Bring in your machine washable yarn leftovers and help spread some fibery love! Below is information on some of the efforts we support. Come on in and we can help you find a pattern!
Chase the Chill Lynn MA
Organized by Kecia and Michelle, regulars at our shop, Chase the Chill Lynn MA is a yarn bombing event that distributes scarves in public places so that those in need—regardless of income and without any qualifiers—can help themselves. In December 2015, 600 items were set up outside My Brother's Table in a low-income area of Lynn, and were gone by the end of the day.
Chase the Chill Salem MA
We have since expanded our Chase the Chill efforts to Salem! On January 7, 2017, we will be hanging an array of scarves, cowls, hats, mittens, etc, outside of Lifebridge. Bring your hand-made or store-bought (gently used, washed is perfectly acceptable) winter warmers in, and we will distribute them! Click for more info.
Pat Pat's Hats
Organized by local knitter Betsy, Pat Pat's Hats was founded in honor of her nephew Patrick, a childhood cancer survivor. Pat's Hats collects hand-knit, machine-washable, unworn hats for children of all ages, from preemie to teen. If you want to participate, bring your donations to the shop and we will deliver them to the lovely Betsy.
Our shop owner Ana is an animal lover and mom to several rescued pets. Ana created Warm Paws, which is an effort to collect knitted blankets and animal sweaters for charity. All items go to Northeast Animal Shelter or PALS Animal Life Savers, both no-kill rescue centers located right here in Salem. If you want to participate, bring your machine-washable donations to the shop and we will deliver them in batches to the shelter.
If you are working on a knitted charitable effort and need help spreading the word, let us know!
